agerpres.ro – Romanian consumer app available in 33 languages, offers emergency contacts in 100-plus countries
InfoCons Protectia Consumatorului de informează :
Romanian consumer protection association InfoCons has launched a mobile application bringing together 33 consumer services on a single platform, offering tools ranging from food label scanning and product safety alerts to emergency numbers for more than 100 countries.
According to the organisation, the application is designed to help consumers make informed decisions about their health, finances and personal safety through a single interface rather than multiple specialised apps.
‘Accurate information, delivered at the right time, is the best form of consumer protection. Based on this principle, InfoCons has developed an application bringing together 33 tools on a single platform to help users protect their health, finances and personal safety. From scanning product labels and checking safety alerts to accessing emergency numbers in more than 100 countries, everything is just a tap away,’ the organisation said in a press release.
Users can scan the barcode of food products to access information on additives (E-numbers), allergens, sugar, salt and calorie content. The app also allows them to set personalised limits for ingredients such as sugar, salt, calories and additives, generating alerts when products exceed those thresholds.
Other features include safety alerts for food and non-food products, comparisons of food items and household appliances, real-time border waiting times, maps of civil protection shelters in Romania, and tools for verifying whether Romanian travel agencies and accommodation providers are properly licensed.
The application also provides emergency and useful telephone numbers for more than 100 countries and is available in 33 languages, allowing users to access information in their preferred language while travelling or living abroad.
‘We make dozens of consumer decisions every day, and using multiple applications for different tasks can be inefficient. InfoCons brings together verified consumer information in a single application with an intuitive interface,’ the organisation said in a press release.
The app includes additional features such as product ratings, environmental impact scores, energy label comparisons for household appliances, calculators for calories, sugar, salt and additives, and a terminology dictionary explaining consumer-related terms in plain language.
The application is available for Android, iPhone and Huawei devices through Google Play, the App Store and AppGallery.
